LISBON, 12 May (Reuters) - Portugal has already given state guarantees in excess of 5,000 million euros (ME) to credit lines to support companies affected by the coronavirus outbreak, said Prime Minister António Costa.
"To date, on the credit lines, we have already approved guarantees in excess of 5,000 ME euros and we are starting to approach the maximum limit (initially available)", he said at a press conference.
The initial package of loans guaranteed by the State amounted to 6,200 ME, with public guarantees up to 90%.
